lipodystrophy creeping back
Sep 3, 2003

Hello again Nelson, In my previous message I should have said that I am on Ziagen, Virramune, Viread and 3tc. Although my skin does seem to be thinning all over, I do seem to be bringing on a small pot belly, but I am seeing that on non HIV+ people too. Is that the drugs or is it being 42 years old??? Also, will cardio burn it off and what kind of cardio would be best? Thanks for all of your help(as usual.)

Response from Mr. Vergel

The FRAM study found that aging HIV negative men have as much of a problem with the belly as HIV poz people with lipodystrophy, so aging and a sedentary life style has a lot to do with this. 30 minutes , 4 days a week, of elliptical trainer or stair master should help you out a lot. Also, cut down your sweets. Do not forget to also do some resistance exercise at 1 hour three times a week. Nelson
