What do you think about the Atkins/low carb diet for people with HIV?

Response from Mr. Vergel
The Atkins diet has been shown to work in studies. People lose fat and weight faster than regular moderate to high carb diets. But people on Atkins report more fatigue, bad breath (ketones tend to cause that problem), mood swings, and difficulty sticking to the diet long term. Diets like the South Beach Diet and others that allow healthy carbs are probably healthier for you since they provide more vitamin and antioxidants than a low to no carbohydrate one. I would really love to see data of the use of lower carb diets for reducing visceral fat related to lipodystrophy, but so far we have no data at all.
