| Is This Possible Dec 15, 1998 Hi Micheal, A friend of mine thought he was exposed to hiv after being with a prostitute.A couple of weeks later he started getting headaches, muscle twitching, nausea and anxiety attacks. This went on for 8 years before he got up the courage to have a elisa test for the virus. It came back negative. His doctor told him the symptoms he was getting was from stress and worry, and it was all in his head.Is this really possible? Thanks |

Response from Mr. Shernoff
We are increasingly learning that there is a profoundly powerful mind-body connection. Yes, people can and do make themselves ill. Stress and worry , often when combined with sexual guilt are a ripe formula for such a thing to happen. Your friend is a living example. Michael Shernoff, MSW | |||||||||
