Trazadone for bedtime anxiety
Jun 29, 2014
I read the answer to the 70-year old's question about taking Xanax for nighttime anxiety. I am a 61 year-old HIV-poz man and fight generalized anxiety every day. I see a therapist and psychiatrist regularly and am on medication for anxiety, depression, and mood changes. I used to take another benziodiapine, Klonopin, but I kept having to increase the dosage. When I finally tried to stop taking it, I was addicted. I wound up in the ER psych ward. It took me a year to get off it. So, I agree that Xanax is not the way to go. I have been taking Trazadone at bedtime to help me sleep. It works well for me.

Thanks for writing. Benzodiazepines are great for acute situations but can be problematic when used chronically. It sounds like you had a tough time but have found a very workable solution.
