Alcohol, anti depressants and HIV
Feb 16, 2014
Greetings from Turkey doctor. Sorry my insufficient English. Because of my divorce, I drink a lot of alcohol (6 strong beer every day), I use excessive amount of anti-depressants, valium etc. I had suspect sexual behaviour 90 days ago. had combo/combi hiv 4th generation test at 90 days and it's negative. Alcohol and excessive amount of drugs, was it be false negative. Thanks a lot.

Thank you for writing. The good news is that it is unlikely that the substances you describe caused a false negative. Your pattern of alcohol and valium, however, is problematic. These two substances create a powerful and harmful combination. I would suggest finding some support where you can talk about feelings concerning your divorce and not rely on mood-altering substances to manage painful emotions. You seem to have been lucky this time however continued use of alcohol and valium at the levels you describe will create problems for you.
