| Does drinking Chinese tea (Gunpowder or Green Tea) affect HIV treatment? Feb 3, 2013 I have HIV and I have been used to drinking Chinese green tea in my country. Now I have started treatment for HIV. Is it good for me to drink this tea without affecting my treatment? |

Thanks for writing. There are some very preliminary data that suggest that a compound in green tea called EGCG may have some antiviral effects. I am not aware of any documentation of negative interactions between green tea and antiretrovirals, although I would be conscious of the caffeine content.
