| Inositol question Jan 6, 2011 I have read that a person suffering from OCD can benefit from taking inositol? I understand that it may or may not work, and still need evaluation and therapy, but as a precaution... how many mg's should a person take? 26 year old female? The lowest amount being sold is 650mg with 100 tablets. |

Response from Dr. Fawcett
There are studies that indicate the potential therapeutic effects of Inositol on illnesses responsive to a category of antidepressants called "selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors," including depression, panic disorder, and OCD. Remember that the body doesn't distinguish between medications and supplements and they can easily interact with each other. Discuss the use of Inositol with your doctor and ask about other treatments for OCD. | |||||||||
