low risk but fear
Jan 11, 2009

I recently delivered a baby. After being home for 4 days, I suddenly got this fear that my doctor had on dirty gloves from a previous patient. My fear is because my babies head crowned suddenly and they had to find my doc. I thought that may be because it happened so fast that he just forgot being in a hurry to change his gloves. Also, I know that it would be highly unlikely that he would leave another patient to help me. I also did not see him with dirty gloves. Should I test? Am I crazy? Do you know of any online forums were people with these same fears talk?

Response from Dr. Horwath

Your doctor would not treat you while wearing contaminated gloves. Even if he did, this would not be likely to transmit HIV infection.
