Hi Doctor-

I had unprotected sex 6 years ago, and have been tested numerous times since then. At least five times, the most recent being 14 months ago. All have been negative. I am married and have been with only my husband since my last exposure. Is there any chance hiv can activate this many years later? I was also tested 19 months ago when I was pregnant, also negative. Am I worrying for no reason? I know this sounds a little crazy even as I write this. Can you please advise? I have heard rumors that some people test positive up to ten years later...is this true? Thank you.

Response from Dr. Horwath

Based on the multiple negative tests you've had, you can be confident that you do not have HIV infection.
