Lymph Nodes
Aug 28, 2008

Are swollen lymph a must symptom for in HIV infection? i mean along with other symptoms like night sweats, weight loss, fever, rashes?

Response from Dr. Horwath

All of these symptoms -swollen lymph nodes, night sweats, weight loss, fever, rashes - are nonspecific symptoms that can occur with a variety of viral infections or other causes.

These symptoms should not be considered diagnostic for HIV infection. In order to diagnose HIV, you need a positive HIV test.
