I went thru ard/adc in 2001 and the diagnosis that I got from my dr said that I had aids dementia complex does this mean that I have progressed to aids or am I still just poz ? beacuse I have been told that once one has aids there can be no calling it being poz and this has been weighing on my mind for a long time now .

Response from Dr. Horwath

The diagnosis of AIDS dementia complex or HIV associated dementia is one of the AIDS defining conditions. In other words, this diagnosis is part of the definition of AIDS. And it is correct that having the diagnosis of AIDS means you cannot go back to calling it only HIV infection.
