Mental Health Issues and Starting Treatment Dec 1, 2007 I agree with your response Dr. Horwath. But I would just like to say I have been in this dark tunnel this person is speaking of. Life is not easy finding yourself in the middle of addiction, and then finding out you are HIV +. Just the same happened to myself. I would like to say a few things to this person. Just to let them know there is light at the end of that tunnel, and help is available if you seek it out. Whether you see a counselor or go into drug rehab or get close with some of your family members even. Me I was almost killed before I really came to realize that drugs and addiction, and depression all coincide with one another, and I truely believe in drug induced depression. Plus realize you are not only hurting yourself, but your friends and family every bit as much, it is a very selfish illness. Also recreational drugs took my tcells down in no time flat. Talking with someone, attending NA meetings and basically finding better things to devote my time to all helped in my breaking of the cycle. Now about a yr into sobriety the nagging feeling to go get high is basically nonexistent and I feel so much better. I wish the best for this person and truely feel what they are going through. Good luck to them!
