It's important to realize that memory loss due to HIV tends to occur very late in the course of HIV infection, if at all. It is a symptom that occurs in people with fairly advanced AIDS. The exact cause is not known, but it is known that HIV gets into the braiun and cause an inflammatory process that impairs the functioning of certain parts of the brain. One of the consequences of this inflammation is memory loss. | ||||||||||
