| Quality of Life Oct 20, 2007 With all the HIV complications : the stigma, the complications of side effects of the drugs, the increase in cancers, the visible skin problems, the brain cancer, and brain slowdown ... is it really worth carrying on ? The difficulty of carrying a job, and not lapsing into poverty and dependence. The depression and anxiety ... What percentage of HIV+s experience a reasonable quality of life ? The public doesn't realize how bad this disease is. I am sorry for my poor outlook just severely depressed now. |

Response from Dr. Horwath
It is difficult to cope with any illness, but many people with HIV have a reasonable quality of life. It sounds like you are very discouraged and depressed. You should get some help for your depression. See a doctor or other mental health professional for help. If your mood improves, you may be able to see things in a brighter light. | ||||||||||
