I am scared of testing
Jun 17, 2007

How do I make myself get tested? If I get a positive result what's the difference? i'll just feel dirtier and like on a death sentence. i'm already taking care of myself as if I was HIV positive, i only masturbate with partners, if i have sex drive, i'm on good excercise, i eat better, stopped smoking. But my main concern is that i would HATE to actually know that I'm Positive. I know this is what i should do, but how do i actually do it without freaking out!?

Response from Dr. Horwath

You're better off knowing than not knowing. Knowing your status gives you important information. If you are positive you can be followed by a doctor and get treatment at the appropriate time. Treatment is most effective when started at the right time, and that can happen only with knowledge of your HIV status.
