|HIV/AIDS counseling/counseling referrals?
Feb 1, 2007
What is the 800 National Hotline for HIV/AIDS counseling/counseling referrals for straight as well as gay individuals? The one listed in my Internet search was for the CDC, and they do not provide this counseling inforamtion. Thanks.

The CDC National AIDS Hotline (1-800-342-AIDS) does not provide counseling, but it does provide information on where to go for HIV testing and counseling. The counseling is designed to explain the test process and meaning of the test results. In general, the counseling is a face-to-face process rather than an over the phone process.
If you just want general information, then there are many websites that provide answers to frequently asked questions related to HIV and testing. Of course, TheBody.com is one of those sites.
