Fever resulted from HIV
Nov 13, 2006

I would like to ask that if a person is infected by HIV and has fever symtom, how long will this symtom last or it will last for couple of days and then come back again?

Response from Dr. Horwath

About 85% of people who become infected with HIV will develop symptoms of what is known as "primary HIV infection." This is an acute viral syndrome that appears within a few days to weeks after infection and lasts and average of 2 weeks. Fever is the most common symptoms, but it may also include fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, headache and rash.
