I recently learned of the successful treatment of Depression with inositol, Levine J. "Controlled trials of inositol in psychiatry. " The effective dose was 12 -18 g which is alot, but the side effect profile was very good, so I tried it. Besides improving my mood, I experienced loss of belly fat wihout loss of mass as well as improvement in eyesight and lower blood pressure? Is there anything more you can tell me about inositol? Is there any conflict with HIV meds? I know that a normal diet contains about 1 gram. Six to eight grams seems to help me so I've been sticking with that. Any thoughts?

There are reports that inositol is helpful for some people with depression. However, it is not a replacement for appropriate evaluation and treatment with proven antidepressant treatments, both psychological and pharmacological. The reports of its benefits have been primarily as an adjunctive treatment for people who have failed to achieve remission with standard treatments.
