Hi, i heard an article on a possible new drug in the works called csa 54. i don't know how well it will work or how long before it comes out could you research this as legitimate . do you think it is hopeful for the future as a treatment. I hear it works on a different cellular level and less side effect . that would be good right?? hopefully?// could this drug get fast tracked fda approval??/

I believe that you are referring to cyclosporine A, a drug that is used to suppress harmful immune reactions in transplant patients. There have been some trials using cyclosporine in HIV infection. These small-scale clinical trials have been contradictory, with some suggesting that the drug might stabilize the CD4 cell counts of asymptomatic people, but others suggesting that the drug might actually worsen HIV disease. There have also been some case studies in which people appear to have benefited.
At this point, cyclosporine A is entirely experimental for use in HIV infection and whether it will turn out to be beneficial is not clear.
