By slowed thinking, I mean that a person is not able to process information as quickly. For example, to complete a complex task may take twice as long as usual because the affected person cannot process the relevant information as efficiently. People with CD4 counts below 200 are at greater risk to develop cognitive impairment due to HIV. However, we do not know the exact mechanism or what other factors may protect some people and make others more vulnerable. | |||||||||
