I am a 53-year-old woman who has been HIV+ since '90. I now have AIDS.
I've recently had to change doctors ( after 20 years ) and now find I am losing my home hospice nurse because she was promoted to a different position. All this just as I started a new cocktail after two+ years "vacation".
I find myself terrified of change, it brings up tons of issues for me.
I have tried therapy,pshycotherapy, meds.
Nothing seems to help.
Where once I was an optimistic person I now find myself wondering why I woke up.
Suicide is not an option due to cultural teachings.
Response from Dr. Horwath
You appear to be suffering from a severe depression. The feelings of hopelessness and loss of a desire to live are consistent with a diagnosis of depression. I advise seeking a good psychiatrist and having an evaluation. I'm sure you would benefit from the appropriate treatment.
