| possibility of HIV infection Nov 1, 2004 I am a 25 year-old female who has had unprotected sex with an HIV positive man many times. His viral load is very low. I also have acute Hepatitis B. What are the chances I will get HIV? Do repeated sexual encounters increase the risk? |

Response from Dr. Horwath
Yes, repeated sexual encounters increase the risk. A low viral load should not be a source of reassurance. You need to use protection when you have sex with any man, whether you know that he is HIV positive or not. | |||||||||
