|Sip of Cola
Nov 4, 2003
I'm very concerned about my grandchild having a sip of cola from my bottle drink. I'm hiv poz and have been non detectable. It has me on the verge of going crazy. I'd appreciate you comment.
Love my grandchild

Sharing a drink should not transmit HIV infection. This is a type of casual contact that has been shown to be safe. In your case, with a non-detectable viral load, the risk of transmission is probably even less than in the studies of casual contact, which mostly were done pre-HAART, when viral loads were likely to be higher in most persons with HIV infection.
