Would HIV cause throat symptoms?
Nov 4, 2003

Would Hiv cause closing of the throat feeling?

Response from Dr. Horwath

The sensation of choking, or closing of the throat is sometimes a symptom of severe anxiety or panic disorder. Panic attacks may include shortness of breath, palpitations, rapid heart beat, dizziness, tingling fingers, and rapidly mounting anxiety.

A common opportunistic infection seen in persons with AIDS is oral candidiasis, which can cause oral and throat pain, pain on swallowing, or a full or tight feeling in the throat.
