hello how are you doing? i was just Dx with AIDS due to my CD4% being 12%, just under the CDC limits. i was started on Atripla and i have no side-effects to the meds and no resistance to them aswell. im 28 eat pretty healthy and workout 4times a week. my question is why does AIDS kill so much people with the medications now-a-days. when i was Dx with this i didn't have any signs or symptoms of this illness. i have been compliant with my meds since i started with them about 2 months ago and i plan to cont to be compliant. if you can answer my question so i can know how to keep my-self in some-what good health. I AM SO SCARED i dont think im going to be able to afford my meds.

Response from Dr. Horwath

The best thing you can do for yourself is to take your antiretroviral medications as faithfully as possible. If you do that and take proper care of your health in other ways, you should remain healthy for a long time to come.
