hello , i would like to know is STD considered an early stage of AIDS?
will STD lead to AIDS?

STD stands for sexually transmitted disease, and is used to refer to a group of infections that are commonly transmitted through sexual contact: gonorrhea, syphilis, Chlamydia, LGV (lymphogranuloma venereum), genital Herpes, trichomoniasis, HPV (human papillomavirus infection), PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) and HIV. These infections are not the same as HIV, which is the virus that causes AIDS. STD is not "an early stage of AIDS."
However, it is important to know that getting tested and treated for STDs can help greatly in preventing the spread of HIV. Persons who are infected with STDs are 2 to 5 times more likely than uninfected persons to acquire HIV infection if exposed to HIV through sex. Also, if a person with HIV is also infected with another STD, that person is more likely to transmit HIV through sexual contact than other HIV-infected persons.
