Cybersex: Addictive or what?
Sep 29, 2002
Hi Michael...
I glad you're still out there helping those of us in search of answers. It's been a long time since our "Eroticizing Safer Sex" days at GMHC, but I'm hanging in there as well. (I'm now the Exec. Director of a little org. in Newark, NJ--the African American Office of Gay Concerns...)
Anyhow, this is my question. During my HE/RR sessions, I am finding a lot of men (of color) accessing the Internet--a lot! From chat rooms, personals and sex hook-up sites, guys are going nuts nowadays! One or two of my workshop participants have even lost jobs because they were spending way too much time on the Net. So, are we now becoming a community of Cybersex Junkies? I'd like your opinion.... Thanks.
Gary

Response from Mr. Shernoff

Dear Gary,
You raise an interesting and sophisticated question. But Since it does not pertain directly to HIV and mental health I can not respond. Sorry.
