Testing Anxiety - Can't find any real answers to this
Oct 9, 2008
Hi
I just have a quick question. About a week ago I took an Oraquick Advance test and I'm glad to say that it was negative. However, this was just over 9 weeks after the episode for which I was concerned (unprotected vaginal intercourse, I'm the guy). Anyway, the counselor told me that I can take the results as conclusive that I am definitely negative because the test is accurate as close as 25 days after exposure. Is this true? I have read so many conflicting things on the internet since, and now am questioning the accuracy of his statements. Can I be confident in my 9-week negative result that I am HIV negative? Is this considered conclusive? If not, can you give me some kind of idea how relevant/accurate/conclusive it is and what expectation I can take from this result? Please reply as I am finding my anxiety coming back as if I haven't gotten tested at all, and that was debilitating before the test. Thank you very much, any insight into this would be very much appreciated.
