Alaska, HIV, is there a chance I got it?
Jul 8, 2007

I need to know if Im at risk for getting HIV from someone at my school. Shes 15 (white) and we live in alaska. What are the chances or statistics i guess that she couldve had HIV? What about other incurable STDs? Im really begining to worry, should I be worried?

Response from Dr. Horwath

It's not possible to say what your risk is from the information you gave. To answer your question, one would need to know if she has a sexual history or history of using drugs and what type of sexual contact you had with her (assuming you did).

But you would not need to worry about your HIV risk if you used protection during sex. The moral of the story is to use protection (condoms) when you have sex.
