can I take Fosomaz 70mg with Garcia Cambogia
Response from Dr. Young
Hello and thanks for posting.
I'd suggest using an online drug interaction calculator, like ePocrates or HIV-druginteractions.org.
Having said that, why garcinia cambogia? It's a completely unregulated product with pretty weak evidence that it does anything other than to make it's manufacturer (and Dr. Oz) wealthy.
If you have osteoporosis (evidenced by the fact that you're taking alendronate (Fosamax), you should really be focusing on getting adequate intake (dietary, or if needed via supplements) of vitamin D (roughly 1000 unit/day) and calcium (1000 mg/day). Getting regular weight bearing exercise and reducing tobacco will also reduce the risk that you'll have a serious bone fracture anytime soon.
For more information about dietary calcium and vitamin D, check out these pages from the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
