Coconut oil, nutmeg, cinnamon, vitamin C.
Aug 13, 2016

There has been talk that the regular consumption of these substances listed above can kill the HIV in someone's body. Is there any truth at all to this? If consumed orally, will these substances contribute in killing or slowing down the virus?

Response from Dr. Young

Hello and thanks for posting.

I'm not sure who the author of the self-promoting, anti-scientific rubbish your reading, but not coconut oil, not nutmeg, not cinnamon, or vitamin C are treatments or cure (there is none) for HIV. Period. Their promotion for this purpose is pure, unadulterated, unethical and dangerous scam.

HIV antiretroviral treatments (or ART), by contrast, are very highly effective and safe for treating and preventing HIV infection. HIV treatments prevent illness, cancers, progression to AIDS, and can reverse serious illness in those with AIDS. ART reduces the risk of serious illness and death, even in people without symptoms and with high CD4 counts- so much so that ART is now recommended by the conservative World Health Organization for all people living with HIV.

Hope that's helpful, BY
