Syphilis

Dec 6, 2015

I AM 45 YEARS OLA MALE.MY RPR TEST WAS POSITIVE SO I WAS SUGGESTED TO GO FOR TPHA TEST. TPHA TEST IS POSITIVE WITH TITERS 1:320 I DONT UNDERSTAND THE RELEVANCE OF TITERS, IS IT HIGH? WHAT SHOULD BE THE FUTURE COURSE OF ACTION? CAN WE PLAN PREGNANCY?

Response from Dr. Young

Hello and thanks for posting.

These tests are indicative of syphilis infection. Syphilis is curable with appropriate antibiotic treatment, usually penicillin injections.

There should be no impact on your ability to have a family.
