|just diagnosed - med start time
Jun 19, 2014
Hi , i just diagnosed and am still uneducated regarding HIV .
my simple question ; should i start meds immediately or should i wait till particular CD4 count ..
Response from Dr. Young
Hello and thanks for posting.
If you're positive, I'd recommend starting treatment, irrespective of CD4 cell count. This is what the US, French, Chinese and other country's treatment guidelines recommend.
Starting this way has been shown to reduce risk of complications, risk of side effects of medications and lowers risk of death from HIV-related complications.
Dr. Young, thanks for you help and time.
