hpv 16

Jan 23, 2014

Dear dr 1 year ago I had a surgery for anal precancer condition. My question is can I still have intercouse sex with my partner using a condom. Will that make my health get worse n turn into cancer. Plz let me know

Response from Dr. Young

Hello and thanks for posting.

Assuming that you've healed up from the surgery, there's no reason why sexual intercourse will alter your risk of cancer.

If you've had anal lesions in the past, make sure to get periodic follow up examinations to make sure that things stay healthy.

Be well, BY
