My husband has been taking tribuss and is not working, his viral load is increasing and cd4 count still decresing,we are practising safe sex,im using altripla and is working very well ,his doctor has switch him to aluvia lamzid just want to check in which regiment is it.What cause the ARV not working
Response from Dr. Young
Hello and thank you for posting.
If your husband is adherent to his medications (Tribuss/Atripla) and he has confirmed HIV viral load, then this indicates that he likely has a drug resistant virus.
While drug resistance testing is generally recommended to aid in selecting a next treatment regimen, it's not available in many places. The regimen of Aluvia (Kaletra) and Lamzid (Combivir) is a very reasonable second-line treatment for people who have experienced failure of the Tribuss/Atripla regimen.
I hope that helps and wish both of you good health. BY
