Can we make an assumption?
Nov 14, 2013
Dear Dr. Young, We just got results from tests taken on a new drug regimen. The cd4 count went up to 600 from 450 when the virus was detectable, and the last regimen wasn't working. It will be a while before we get the tests on the viral load back. In your estimation, do you think we could assume that the virus is undetectable since the cd4 has gone up. Thank you!
Response from Dr. Young
Hi and thanks for posting.
While the viral load test is really the best way to know how things are working, the increase in your CD4 count is certainly a good thing and suggestive of the viral load moving in the right direction.
Hope that helps, BY
