THE LAST DAY ON PEP
Sep 21, 2013

Hello, please i need help i was on ASPEN LAMZID for 27 days during this period i had sex again with a positive partner and i went to see my doctor and he said i should extend my treatment for another 28 days right now am on 5th days again please is this right

Response from Dr. Young

Your PEP treatment duration should reflect your most recent exposure- so an additional 28 days makes sense.

However, be mindful that if you do have repeated at-risk exposures you might consider the merits going on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), if available in your country.

For more information about PrEP, check out our Fact Sheet from AIDS InfoNet.org.
