|Can I go back to Efivarenz?
May 24, 2013
I have been recently changed from Atripla to Stribild and planning on moving to Colombia-South America. I was taken off Atripla because of the high cholesterol levels caused by Efivarenz. I know emtricitabine, efivarenz and tenofovir are available in this country but I am not sure the rest of the componenets of Stribild( Elvitegravir and cobicistat) are. Can I go back to Efivarenz if needed or you think my body is resistant to that medication by now? Do you know anything about treatment in this country? I have responded great to atripla (7+years), just the high cholesteros levels.

Hello and thanks for posting.
I too am not sure about the availability of Stribild in Columbia, but should there be need, as long as you don't develop drug resistance (or rebound viral load) while on Stribild, there's no reason why you couldn't go back onto Atripla (or it's three medication components).
I hope that helps, BY
Taking Atripla, Celexa an Wellbutrin
