Herb and HIV drug interactions
Apr 24, 2013
Is there a web-site to check the drug interactions with various herbs? I google and just get random information. I am taking Norivir, Reyataz, Ziagen and Viread. I want to take a virus elimination herb that includes Burdock Root, Ashwagandha Root, ECHINACEA ROOT, Passion Flower, Fenugreek seed, hydranga root, and barberry root. Trying to eliminate continuing cold sore breakouts. I have researched each HIV drug with no information given regarding these herbs.

Hi and thanks for posting.
I'd be cautious about adding untested products or supplements, particularly when your taking Norvir (ritonavir)-- this medication has the greatest potential to cause negative drug-drug interactions.
I'll start my answer though with where you started-- you're taking this product to "eliminate virus"? HIV or herpes. In either case, no herbal product are known to have any demonstable or credible effect in eliminating either HIV or HSV.
If you're having frequent cold sore (HSV) outbreaks, it's probably going to be more effective to take an acyclovir family medication for either prevention or to treat the early signs/symptoms of a new outbreak.
