| cd4 rapid rise: Apr 2, 2013 I have been hooked up w/care team(a free clinic for hiv)here in myrtle beach for about 5 years was on atripla until about a year ago, when new doctor swiched me to complera. my cd4 count has been consitantly in the mid 400 range.my blood work is done every 3 mounths give/take a couple weeks.on my last visit the doctor said my cd4 count is over 900! is this tipical? do you think there was some mistake ,did my blood get mixed w/another specimen... does it sound logical/or right? my visits are scheduled 3-4 months apart, because they have their hands full.so I want know if 900 is the new 400 for me until then. maybe not related but I have skin rash or hives(I have never had hives in my 52yrs.of life)I recon it's hives. i'm wandering if the drastic change in my #s is triguring changes in my body, making things go haywire. a million things are going through my mind right now. could the complera be having an affect on my liver, the reason for the hives? oh my does any of this make since? |

Response from Dr. Young
Hello and thanks for posting. No, a doubling of your CD4 cell count isn't really typical in such a short period of time. However, before concluding that there really was such an increase, look at your CD4 percentages. My hunch is that there wan't a similar doubling in percentage and that it might be a reflection of the immune system activation in the hives that you're experiencing, rather than a symptom of a markedly improved CD4 level. To the hives, it's worth mentioning this to your doctor(s), since they could be related to an allergy of one sort or another. I hope that helps, BY | |||||||||
