|tenofovir prodrugs gs4370 and TAF
Mar 30, 2013
can you give me an idea of when hiv patients will be able to access the tenofovir prodrugs in development. Can you tell me how I can participate in one of their studies (Merke, Gillead)?

Hello and thanks for posting.
GS7340/TAF is a new prodrug of tenofovir that is in clinical trials. Encouraging phase 2 clinical trials data on TAF was presented recently at the CROI conference, suggesting improved potency and toxicity profiles.
TAF is only available in clinical trials at this point. You can search clinicaltrials.gov to check on the status of ongoing trials. Since the phase 3 clinical trials are underway, if successful, I'd expect FDA review for the new drug application within the next 2 years.
I hope that helps, BY
