monoclonal antibodies

Jan 26, 2013

Hello, doctor. My name is Felipe, from Brazil

what is your feeling about the monoclonal antibodies? Yesterday, the 25th, the site of cytodin published a document in which they expressed optimism about the release of pro-140, for example. what do you think?

thank you

Response from Dr. Young

Hello Felipe and thanks for posting from Brazil.

Monoclonal antibodies are used in a wide range of applications- including diagnostics and some medical therapeutics.

Pro140 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that, like maraviroc, blocks the CCR5 HIV co-receptor. Still in early (phase 2) stage development, it will still take time to test the effectiveness in larger scale human studies.

For more information about Pro-140, take a look at AIDS Info drug database.

Be well, BY
