I take stribld and caduet 10/40. I notice that the stribild data say that to tell your doc if you take caduet with stribild. What should we be looking for? my creatinine clearance is fine..thanks.

The issue with the combination is that the cobicistat part of Stribild can increase the levels of the atorvastatin (lipid-lowering) part of Caduet.

While this isn't an absolute contraindication, increased levels of atorvastatin has the potential to cause toxicity such as muscle injury (and in rare cases after severe muscle injury, kidney injury). Early symptoms of muscle inflammation would include muscle tenderness.

When atorvastatin is used in combination with drugs like cobicistat (or ritonavir), we would recommend using the lowest dose necessary to achieve the desired cholesterol-lowering effect. This is somewhat more complicated with the combination drug Caduet, but still possible, as the medication comes in different atorvastatin (and amlodipine) doses.
