Nov 10, 2012
Dear Dr, I am a Physician practisin in VIrginia, USA. I have a friend who has HIV in India. During my recent visit to India I was very upset to find how poorly the disease is managed with no dedicated doctors or trained professionals, I have heard there are excellent centers in Bangkok, since my friend can afford treatment can you suggest a docotr or center in south east asia where HIV is being managed as per International standards. thanks a lot in advance.

Hello and thanks for posting.
There are high quality HIV doctors across southeast Asia- including India and Thailand. Much of course, depends on which city your friend lives in. I'd suggest having your friend contact the local AIDS service organization, or a quick search of the abstracts from any of the international AIDS conferences will identify those involved in clinical research (often a poor man's surrogate for high quality care).
Lastly, perhaps our readers (channeling Andrew from Thailand) can comment on how they chose their doctors in the region.
Good luck, BY
