| Complera with little food intake Aug 5, 2012 Recently, I was switched in my regime from Truvada+Isentress to now Complera+Isentress...my question is I take the pill in the mornings as directed from my doctor and at times I am not sure on how much food would I need to eat while taking it (Complera). Would a bowl of fruit or banana OR do I have to eat a full breakfast to make the pill relialble and not fail. |

Response from Dr. Young
Hello and thanks for posting. The dietary requirement for Complera (or the rilpivirine component) is for a 400 calorie meal with 13 grams of fat. A bowl of fruit wouldn't be enough, since there neither enough calories or enough fat. If that requirement is a problem around breakfast, consider taking your pills around a different meal (like dinner); if it's a really big problem, discuss the situation with your doctor.
