Jul 29, 2012

one ma frnd has hiv and he has a cut on his finger and bleeding from it he applied cotton then he removed then he piched ma ear and i have some some superficial wound not bleeding small in size reddsih which was heal once and again 2 days ago i scratch this so at the time of this incident the wound open without any scab what are the chances of hiv??and infeceted blood goes into blisters and pimples cause hiv??

Response from Dr. McGowan

If there were an open wound on your ear (bleeding) and he touched his open wound (also bleeding) to it, there may be a risk of exposure to you. If your wound was healed, it takes about 24 hours to close up a wound, then there would be no risk to you. The other important factor would be how much virus there is in his blood...a high viral load, the more likely transmssion might happen.
