| HIV Test Jun 23, 2012 I tested positive 8 months after my last neg test results(I am 56 and test neg every year and my sexual activity is very low-moderately low risk) I have a gastro infection with fever that I am on anti biotics...What are the hances this produced a false positive? |

Hi, Neither the GI infection nor antibiotics affects the HIV antibody test. Sorry to say, that if you had the appropriate confirmatory tests, you're probably positive. At this point, there's much to do, but the first steps are to connect with an experienced and non-judgmental health care provider and get appropriate medical assessments.
