| PEP - Yes or No? Please help! Apr 22, 2012 I'm a straight man visiting Thailand. About 12 hours ago, I ended up rimming and having unprotected, penetrative anal-sex with a prostitute. The prostitute is a Thai female and HIV status unknown, though she was with a group of black girls (her friends). It probably lasted about 5 minutes, and when finished, there was no feces or blood on my penis. I am circumcised, and within 5 minutes of finishing I had urinated and washed. The question: to PEP or not to PEP? It was so stupid, and now I'm a little freaked out. Please help! |

Response from Dr. Young
Hello. So, simply put, you had unprotected penetrative anal intercourse with a sex worker in Thailand. This exposure is sufficiently risky to justify PEP. The key is getting evaluated and started on PEP within 72 hours of the exposure. BY | |||||||||
