Hiv Treatment
Apr 21, 2012

thank you benjamin for your prompt reply to the question . i would like to ask you a question. how do we reduce the viral load to the undetectable level and increase the cd4 count to an better level. is it recommended that the treatment should be started so that the cd4 level increases and the virus load goes negative. if we start the treatment right away do we require less time to lower the virus load to undetectable range.

Response from Dr. Young

Hi again,

The only way to reduce the viral load to undetectable levels and to increase CD4s is through HIV medications. With your partner's low viral load, I'd suspect that the level should reach undetectable levels within only 1-2 months of treatment.

Hope that helps. Be well, BY
