Response from Dr. McGowan
There are very few absolutes in medicine. While there are always possible exceptions to every rule, it IS TRUE that if a person has had serial negative HIV tests (for example at 3 months and 6 months), especially with our new tests (which look for both antibody and antigen) it is the best way of being certain that there is no HIV infection present.
